Partners of the #EUAPPTIVE project took part in the third Monitoring Meeting held on June 12, 2025, in Vila Nova de Poiares (Portugal).
Hosted by the Municipality of Vila Nova de Poiares, a project partner, the meeting brought together representatives from across the EUAPPTIVE consortium to review progress, align on upcoming activities and prepare for the official launch of the #BeActive Challenge 2025.
Mr. Ricardo Peneda, representing the host municipality, has opened the meeting by welcoming participants to Vila Nova de Poiares. Ms. Julia Fernandez from Sport Innovation Hub, the Lead Partner of the EUAPPTIVE project, followed with an update on the overall management status of the project.

Key Highlights from the Meeting:
- #BeActive Challenge Launch: The official launch of the #BeActive Challenge is scheduled for July 1st, 2025. Vila Nova de Poiares will lead the organization of the launch events.
- App Development: The mobile app designed for the #BeActive Challenge has been developed by project partner CuiCui. The app is targeted primarily at inactive individuals, with a key focus on encouraging a relative increase in physical activity, rather than absolute performance.
- Important User Communication: Participants must be made aware that certain physical activities may not be recorded if they do not carry their mobile phones, especially when manual logging is not supported. Clear messaging is essential to ensure fair competition among participating cities and municipalities across Europe.
- Visibility & Outreach: The partners will promote the Challenge across its network of cities and municipalities throughout Europe via posters, flyers and social media campaign. A dedicated #BeActive LinkedIn account will be created to enhance visibility and engagement, especially among European cities and municipalities. All partners have committed to increasing communication and outreach around the challenge.
All EUAPPTIVE project partners are looking forward to the launch of the #BeActive Challenge and are fully committed to promote and to support the Challenge
