Brussels, December 12, 2024—ACES Europe celebrated its 25th-anniversary ACES Awards Gala at the European Parliament in Brussels, spotlighting groundbreaking initiatives, including the EUAPPTIVE project. Funded by the Erasmus+ EU program, the EUAPPTIVE project is dedicated to promoting physical activity and active aging through innovative research and ICT tools.The prestigious event brought together more than 50 awarded cities alongside high representatives from the European Commission, European Parliament, UNESCO, and other ACES Europe partners. Among the highlights of the evening was the introduction of the EUAPPTIVE Challenge 2025 by Marcos López-Flores, CEO of the Sport Innovation Hub and Lead Partner of the EUAPPTIVE project.

During his presentation, López-Flores extended an invitation to all awarded cities to join the EUAPPTIVE Challenge 2025. This initiative aims to foster healthier communities by encouraging active lifestyles and environmental awareness.
The EUAPPTIVE Challenge 2025 is set to launch in June 2025, running for 16 weeks. The program targets citizens of all ages, with a particular focus on the elderly population. Key goals of the challenge include:
- Active time: Tracking hours of physical activity.
- Distance: Measuring kilometers walked or cycled.
- Progress: Monitoring participant improvements (%).
- Environmental impact: Recording CO2 savings (tons).
- Self-perception: Evaluating participant feedback (Rate of Perceived Exertion – RPE).
This challenge not only aims to encourage individual and community health improvements but also to contribute to broader environmental sustainability goals.
